Cooler than normal
temperatures greeted those on hand
for the 21st annual Commemorative
Ceremony of the Battle of Baton
Rouge at historic Magnolia
Cemetery Aug. 7. The ceremony,
which honors the memory of the
Union and Confederate soldiers who
fought and died in the battle,
included several members of the
military - both active and retired.
Members of the Louisiana State
Militia, commanded by Chip Landry;
the Marine Corps League Color
Guard, commanded by Pat Kane;
and the U.S. Army Reserve Color
Guard, commanded by Sgt. 1st Class
James Scott, conducted the
presentation of the colors and raising
of the Union and Confederate flags.
